Big Book Coven is an intimate retreat for women who crave good books, deep rest and space to wander inward. Set in Shela, Lamu island, we mix the tranquil vibes of a reading holiday with creative workshops inspired by the beloved book Women Who Run with the Wolves.

Workshops
One session a day (60–90 minutes), inspired by Women Who Run With the Wolves. A blend of dialogue, reflection, and hands-on creative play.
Sacred Solitude
Stretches of unstructured time — to read, write, nap, wander, create, dream, or stare at the ocean.
Soft Ceremony
Simple opening and closing rituals, barefoot days, and shared meals. Small gestures of communion that frame our time together.
Creative Corner
Art supplies and tools will be provided for you to record and recall at your leisure. For you to capture sparks of insight.
Digital Detox
Guests are gently encouraged to — as much as possible — put their phones away for the duration of the retreat.
This is for you if you crave a reset that’s soft and soulful and you’re done waiting for “the right time” to give something to yourself.

Hi! I’m Yaye Kassamali - reader, writer, artist, teacher, mother.
I love the kind of magic that happens when women gather as themselves, so I created this retreat to bring together book-loving women!
It’s a space for women to rest, reflect, connect, and be a little wild.
I’ve spent years with Women Who Run With the Wolves, shaping its myths into playful, accessible workshops. It’s a text that continues to open doors, and I’d love to hold space for you to step through them.
Think of me as your host, fellow book lover, and slightly feral facilitator.
